2007 Pennsylvania Calendars available now at Senator-elect Brubaker's office

HARRISBURG – A limited supply of 2007 calendars featuring the magnificent paintings of Violet Oakley which grace the Capitol are available at the district office of state Senator-elect Mike Brubaker (R-36).

Brubaker said that this year's calendar celebrates Oakley's commitment to Pennsylvania history as well as William Penn's ideals of world harmony and religious freedom. Her brilliant murals, considered some of the finest in the world, turned architect Joseph Huston's vision of a "Palace of Art" into a reality.

The calendars also feature a series of photographs highlighting various aspects of the Capitol's architectural splendor and showcasing the decorative details that make the institution timeless.

Constituents can pick up calendars at Senator-elect Brubaker's district office at 1248 W. Main Street in Ephrata while supplies remain available.

Guided tours are a great way to see the impressive features of the Capitol in person and are offered every half hour, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Weekends and most holidays, tours are offered at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Groups of 10 or more people need to make advance reservations by calling 1-800-TOUR N PA. Senator-elect Brubaker’s district office can also help to arrange visits.
