Building a Vision for Rural Pennsylvania to Hold Session in Leesport

Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee to hear local comments, concerns

HARRISBURG – State Senator Michael O'Pake (D-Reading) will be hosting a listening session on Friday for his colleagues on the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, Committee Chairman Senator Mike Brubaker (R-36) said today.

The sessions are part of the Building a Vision for Rural Pennsylvania series to help Committee members identify the concerns and priorities of the agriculture and rural communities for the 2007-2008 legislative session. O'Pake serves as the minority chair of the Committee.

The public session will be held on Friday, April 27, at 10 a.m. at the Berks County Agricultural Center, 1238 County Welfare Road, Leesport.

"We have been fortunate to have a broad cross section of individuals join us at these sessions, and I believe that we have gleaned very valuable information over the past few months," Brubaker said. "I encourage anyone who would like to share their thoughts to attend one of our remaining sessions."

"After our series concludes next month, my Committee will work to build a comprehensive agenda that embraces the unique needs of our agriculture and rural communities from across the Commonwealth," Brubaker said. "Of course, none of this would have been possible without the participation of the Committee members, and I want to thank my colleagues for being willing to host sessions," Brubaker said.

Anyone who would like to attend and/or speak at the session in Leesport this Friday should contact Senator Brubaker's office at 717-787-4420 or via email at SenateAgRuralAffairs@pasen.gov. Additional information and directions are also available.
