For Immediate Release Senator Brubaker named to Special Session CommitteeSession called this fall to discuss Pennsylvania energy issues HARRISBURG – State Senator Mike Brubaker (R-36) announced today that he has been named to the Committee on Energy Policies for this fall's Special Session. "This Special Session gives us an excellent chance in state government to develop innovative energy policy and programs and I am honored to be a part of that activity as a member of the Special Session Committee," Brubaker said. The Special Session called by the Governor is focused specifically on proposals for investments in clean and renewable energy, energy conservation and related economic development, as well as requirements regarding the renewable energy content of liquid fuels. "I have already participated in two public hearings on the proposed biofuel mandates," Brubaker said. "I believe this is a very important issue and I was very interested in the various perspectives offered during these hearings." Brubaker indicated that the General Assembly will also discuss related energy issues, such as electricity costs, as part of the regular 2007-2008 session. He is a member of the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee for the regular session which would consider such legislation. "We have a real opportunity here to address and encourage energy conservation and efficiency and the use of alternative and renewable energy sources," Brubaker said. "I look forward to working with my colleagues on this matter so that we can continue to make this Commonwealth a better place to work and live."
