Help Center available to assist victims of recent mortgage crisis

Appointments can be scheduled through toll-free number

Senator Brubaker

LITITZ – Along with other Lancaster County legislators, state Senator Mike Brubaker (R-36) has helped to coordinate a Help Center to provide professional knowledge to those affected by the recent mortgage crisis.

Assistance at the Help Center is available by appointment at the Lancaster Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster. Appointments can be scheduled by calling toll-free at 1-866-334-6137.

Individuals from the Lancaster Bar Association, H&R Block, the state Department of Banking, the state Attorney General's office and other state and local agencies are volunteering their time and expertise at the Help Center.

"I am very grateful to these volunteers as we work together to help our friends and neighbors through this difficult time," Brubaker said.

Brubaker cautioned that the Help Center is not meant to be a substitute for retaining individual legal counsel. However, volunteers can help to explain documents and paperwork as well as the options available to victims so they can make informed decisions about their futures.

"I truly sympathize with everyone who has been impacted by the bankruptcy filing of Personal Financial Management and Image Masters, and I will continue to work with them over the coming weeks and months," Brubaker said.
