Brubaker Elected Vice Chair of Chesapeake Bay Commission, Chair of PA Delegation
HARRISBURG - Sen. Mike Brubaker (R-36) was elected this
week to serve as the Vice Chairman of the Chesapeake Bay Commission and Chairman
of the Pennsylvania delegation for 2010.
Brubaker served in both capacities in 2009 and played an
active role in helping to address issues related to the Chesapeake Bay and its
watershed through a number of meetings with local stakeholders, state and
federal environmental officials and legislators.
“The Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries throughout the
64,000 square mile watershed are an important source of drinking water, fresh
food and recreation. We must continue to do our part to protect this vital
resource,” Brubaker said. “It is an honor to be selected by my colleagues to
serve in a leadership role on the Chesapeake Bay Commission in 2010, and I look
forward to continuing our work to meet pollution reduction goals in a way that
makes sense for the 16 million people who live and work in the 6-state region.”
Brubaker’s election was announced at the Chesapeake Bay
Commission’s meeting in Annapolis, Maryland on Thursday.
