Brubaker Tours New Northeastern Lancaster County Food Bank Facility
HARRISBURG – Sen. Mike Brubaker (R-36) toured the new facility for the
Northeastern Lancaster County Food Bank in Terre Hill today to learn more about
the organization's efforts to eliminate hunger and food security.
The Northeastern Lancaster County Food Bank recently moved its operations
from the upstairs of the Terre Hill Borough Building to an unused room at St.
Paul's United Methodist Church at 105 West Main Street in Terre Hill. The
additional space that is available at the new location is expected to be helpful
in storing, packing and distributing food to community members in need.
"The staff, volunteers and generous donors of the Northeastern Lancaster
County Food Bank demonstrate how citizens are working in their home communities
to confront the problem of hunger," said Brubaker, who serves as Chairman of the
legislative Hunger Caucus. "I am very thankful that their efforts are helping
individuals and families who are in need in our local communities."
Brubaker urged district residents who are interested in volunteering or
donating food to contact the food bank to coordinate donations of non-perishable
food items such as soups, juices, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, pasta and canned
fruits and vegetables.
The Northeastern Lancaster County Food Bank has been in operation since 1991
and serves residents of Terre Hill Borough and Earl, East Earl, Brecknock and
Caernarvon townships. Food and vouchers are distributed only by referral from
Ephrata Area Social Services. |
